Pre-U Chemistry

Lassonde Academy: Pre-U Chemistry is designed to review and reinforce chemistry concepts as well as to enhance your learning skills in preparation for your first year at Lassonde.

Our Pre-U Chemistry course consists of multiple modules. Each module focuses on the concepts that are most important for your success in your first-year program.

We will review as well as build on a lot of content that will likely be familiar to you, including:

  • Acids, Bases and Equilibrium
  • Building Bonds
  • Reactions and Energy

To support your learning, each module contains:

  • Mini-lessons focused on learning through problem-solving, along with tasks that will serve to support your learning and progress.
  • Activities that will enhance your skills and create opportunities to apply your knowledge.
  • A summative task that applies your learning in the module to a real-world problem connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As you work through each of the modules, you’ll learn to:

  • organize, analyze and interpret data as it relates to classroom investigations and to real-world chemistry
  • apply concepts and equations to systems that surround us – physical and chemical, natural and human
  • understand practical applications of chemistry in areas of engineering, science and technology
  • and more
